3 Product Categories that Should be Sponsoring Video Game Streamers

Streaming platforms, such as Twitch and YouTube, that allow video gamers to stream live gameplay creates an opportunity for certain product categories to market their products in the form of sponsorships. Not just any product category can realistically do this, but there are some that go hand in hand with gaming and are not currently sponsoring gamers. With the right streamers, this creates real opportunities for brands to create awareness, liking, and purchases for a product. Some categories such as headphones, energy drinks, GPUs, and motherboard companies are already sponsoring streamers, but what about the other products that can relate to gaming?

The Product Categories:

1. Microphones

This one may seem odd at first, but most streamers utilize higher quality professional microphones to stream with. One of the reasons why I got my current microphone was because I was influenced by a streamer's microphone. However, I don't think I have ever seen a microphone company sponsor a video game streamer. This is a huge loss for microphone companies to take a stand behind gamers by sponsoring some streamers, thus possibly building awareness, and liking for the brand. This is one of the very few products that can truly be demonstrated for the viewers since the streamer would be using the sponsored microphone to talk to the audience.

2. Coffee

It is strange to me that I have not seen coffee companies such as Starbucks, Folgers Coffee, Dunkin Donuts, Maxwell House, and others sponsoring streamers. Gamers don't just drink energy drinks and sponsoring a streamer with a coffee brand could be more effective. The best way to do this, in order to make it an experience, would be to have a coffee machine, such as a Keurig, set up behind the streamer in view of the camera, with the coffee brand K-cups put into a display. The streamer could brew a cup of the coffee every once in a while into a company branded cup. Thus, creating awareness, and liking for the brand.

3. Delivery Pizza

Now, this last one may be harder to do but could be effective for driving some purchases. Companies like Pizza Hut, Papa John's Pizza, and Domino's Pizza could be sponsoring some streamers on Twitch and YouTube by delivering a complimentary pizza or other deliverable items to the streamer every once in a while to help remind viewers that they too could order a quick pizza. Furthermore, a link could be put on the streamer's page that brings viewers to the online ordering page where a discount could be applied to their purchase. This type of sponsorship could increase sales for the pizza delivery company as well as generate a liking for the brand.

The point

The point is that there are many product categories that could be sponsoring some streamers on Twitch and YouTube to help generate brand awareness, liking, and purchases. Other similar product categories are already doing so such as energy drinks, and headphones which also offer discount codes for viewers. These three product categories would be no different in terms of the relatability the products have to gaming. Like with any sponsorship, care should be taken in selecting a person to essentially represent a company brand. However, if the right person is sponsored, the brand could enjoy the benefits of being a part of that streamer's community.
